Winter Showdown


***PRE-REGISTER BELOW, DEADLINE JANUARY 19TH, 2022***

The 2022 Dickinson FFA Winter Showdown will be held on January 23rd, 2022 at the Galveston County Fairgrounds in Hitchcock. This is an unaffiliated open prospect show.

The 2022 Dickinson FFA Winter Swine Showdown will be held on February 12th, 2022

We are also currently looking for sponsors for our showdown to purchase buckles and prizes.

Show is being judged by Troy Oliver

Show Schedule is as follows:
Check-In starts at 7:00 am
Show will start at 9:00 am
Cattle must be registered and weight cards turned in by 8:30 am
Heifers will show first followed by Junior and Senior Heifer Showmanship
Steers will show immediately after the Heifer Show followed by Junior and Senior Steer Showmanship
The Lamb and Goat Show will follow the cattle show after a brief lunch break. 
Lamb and Goat weight cards must be turned in by 11:30 am
Lambs will show first followed by Junior and Senior Lamb Showmanship
Goats will show immediately after the Lamb Show followed by Junior and Senior Goat Showmanship

All animals will be sorted into classes by weight cards (excluding breeding beef). Upon check-in, each exhibitor will receive a weight card that must be turned in by the designated time for that animal. Weight cards for Steers are due by 8:30, and Lamb and Goat weight cards are due by 11:30 . There will be digital scales open at 7am available for use. There will NOT be a weigh back for any animals during the show. No animal will be allowed in the show ring without turning in a weight card.

Breeding Heifers will be sorted by Date of Birth provided by the exhibitor, registration papers not required, due on entry cards by 8:30.

Steers and Breeding Heifers will be in Divisions of American, British, and Exotic. Division will be selected on entry card. No classifier on hand. 

Junior division showmanship is classified as anyone in 8th grade and younger. All high school aged participants will be in the Senior level showmanship. Showmanship is $10 CASH ONLY AT THE SHOW. Buckles awarded for showmanship.

No cards will be accepted after the deadline times. 

 

Swine Showdown - Saturday, February 12th, 2022

Show is being judged by Jacob Deitzy

Show Schedule is as follows:
Check-In starts at 7:00 am

 Weight cards turned in by 8:30 am

Show will start at 9:00 am

All animals will be sorted into breed divisions and classes by weight cards. Upon check-in, each exhibitor will receive a weight card that must be turned in by 8:30 AM. There will be digital scales open at 7am available for use. There will NOT be a weigh back for any animals during the show. No animal will be allowed in the show ring without turning in a weight card.

Pig Breeds and show order are Hampshire, Durocs, Yorkshire, Other Pure Breeds, Crosses. Breed will be selected on entry card. No classifier on hand. It is the judges discretion to move a pig from any breed into the crosses division. 

Junior division showmanship is classified as anyone in 8th grade and younger. All high school aged participants will be in the Senior level showmanship. Showmanship is $10 CASH ONLY AT THE SHOW. Buckles awarded for showmanship.
